We have a u shape howdens kitchen we are now fitting worktop.

One side of the U we have to trim the cabinets 25mm

If that part of the kitchen has different worktop overhang compared to the rest would it look weird?

We might reduce this difference by chasing plaster or scribing wall to minimise this difference.

The choppy told me he wants to chase plaster? Is this advised? Or should he scribe?

An additional overhang of 25mm will look daft and you'll be lucky to chase 25mm out of the plaster - time to scribe the worktop. It will also throw the mitre position out.

Out of interest, why the need to loose 25mm?

I notice the guy we got doing the worktop appeared very reluctant to scribe the back of the worktop. I might have to dump him.

Ok. In your experienced view how much extra overhang would you tolerate. Say 7mm?

If you're scribing the worktop then just reduce the depth to that which you need. I don't know what depth worktops you're fitting but a standard (Howden's) base unit carcass depth will be 575mm and the worktops you originally selected (Howden's?) would probably have been 616mm deep. Make sure that if you do reduce them by 25mm you still have sufficient space to pass any services behind the base units.

Charming! - is the chippy on a fixed price for the job or day rate?
