Dimmer not working

Just installed mains downlighters in my landing. The circuit is 2 way
rocker switch downstairs dimmer upstairs. Wired the dimmer the same
as the old rocker switch upstairs. The switch downstairs turns the lights on and off but the dimmer does nothing. Anybody tell me whats wrong ?

Do you mean that the switch bit of the dimmer (often push on/off) does nothing, or the dimming function doesn't work?

How did you wire it - what connections from the old switch did you transpose to the dimmer?

Is the dimmer suitable, and suitably rated, for the type and amount of lights you have?
