I need a replacement diverter valvue. I am hoping to bypass the plumbers expensive fees and do it myself. the problem is I am not sure what part I need. Boiler is a potterton boiler. The valvue is a switchmaster by smiths meters ltd and its an electro mechanical unit, and i think something in the gear has gone wrong.

I have looked up switchmaster and seen switchmaster 800 etc. Mine has no number after it so I have no idea what I am looking for.

Where can I find this in the Uk prefrably. Thanks.

If its the blue switchmaster with the white plastic screw in the middle you won't find one unless someone has one knocking around in the shed they want to part with. Replace complete valve then slight rewire to get sorted.

You want to bypass plumbers"expensive" fees, but have no idea what youre doing,oh dear oh dear.

Well you aren't going to bypass this plumber telling you that if you want expensively gained knowledge and experience free, you'd better be
1) polite and
2) not too dumb to use the "search" facility.

Another satisfied customer!

Changing the subject slightly, has anyone ever asked themselves why dyslexia is such a hard word to spell. Seems unfair to dyslexics really. Just a thought.

Your as much dyslexic as you are a plumber mate..
You cant come on a site like this and put down the very people you want advice from can you ...

Now guys come on dyslexia don't take the mick that's serious being dyslexic myself but that's why i have a spell check.

As for the OP - first don't make hurtful comments about hoping people are blown up.

Secondly..... Your plumbers knowledge obviously isn't worth paying for even though they know what they are doing, have the correct assessments and credentials, pay there tax's, are probably unpaid tax collectors, they are not worth paying for the diverted valve to be fixed, this is why i no longer want to write the parts requiring replacement on job sheets/invoices as to many people want to do it themselves, then refuse to pay the bill for my time, just this morning i was phoned up and asked you do free quotes don't you..... Yes... ok tell me what's wrong with my boiler.... lol people make me laugh.

And if you talk to him in the way your Original post sounds to me, if it is discontinued even if i had one in the garage i would tell you i didn't sorry mate need a new boiler!
