DIY gas?

Who's to say that this is a case of DIY Gas? For all we know, it may well be a gassafe registered bod doing the work. Perhaps the old lady has a nice new cooker and doesn't know/realise that she'd inadvertently left the gas on. Overnight, the build up of gas could have led to the explosion.
(only a possible scenario). ;) ;) ;) ;)

On the news, these have been refurbed, gas, by some trust, who has done the area, the cooker had been re-connected, the lady who was hurt said to a neighbour, she lit the cooker minutes before. Gas was smelled in the area, and reported.

Dosen't mean her house was the leaky building, But, i know for sure, who ever did the job at that address, has a squeaky bum. 5 yrs?

It was a Housing Association refurbishment so they would have used Gas Safe fitters. Its so easy to check an installation for leaks. I hope it wasn't a mistake by them.
If it was one of those cookers with a pilot light, they should be banned by now.
Maybe it was something else like a switch being turned on.

30% burns seems like she was in the blast area, very sad.

In Derby some years back, a council house blew up. Turned out it had been refubished and the gas supply to the house had been put through the cavity wall, unsleeved, but sealed with silicon or something. At a later date an electrician had come to earth bond the gas supply next to the meter and had inadvertently nicked the pipe through the wall with his drill. Gas leaked into the cavity with explosive results.
The plumbing company were fined a massive amount and stopped from being a council subcontractor for a few years (masonic handshakes , regained them the contract). A Corgi registered company at the time too.
Just shows, mistakes can be made even though registered.
