DIY Squirrel deterrer

I made a bird feeder atop a metal pole. To prevent squirrels gaining access, I made a funnel shape out of alloy, about 18" diameter at the wide end, hole in the narrow end to suit the pole. Fitted to pole, so it just sits on a clamp, on the pole. The funnel, is free to rock and move. The squirrels have nothing to grip, to get past the funnel, we have never seen them even try.

I have been alternating hot chilli .....great to make cats sneeze.......with garlic cloves skinned , cut into 3s

A mix of these seems to keep most away , the squirrels in particular seem to run off if there is garlic down among the bird seeds

I had an air rifle filled with moist toilet roll pellets last week and the two cats I hit with those right on the arse have not been back

Whilst I detest cats and would happily support a legal cull or a right to use lethal ammo on them in my garden I unfortunately can't use the 177 target tip pellets I have from my teenage days shooting rats up the local farm for pocket money
