I've just experimented with the idea in post #5, but to prevent squirrels from scoffing all the food on our bird table. The birds can still peck up the seeds but the squirrels can't get their mouths around them, although they try hard enough.

I have a “keep off the grass” sign but I dont think the little bu**ers can read. Either that or they are just winding me up.Just put up a sign..'No Squirrels'....they will then go next door.
Try another language for the sign.I dont think the little bu**ers can read

Please explain, how is the mix, application etc? And how big is your garden? Both rats and squirrels hate chilli , curry powder, garlic , peppermint and lemon juice so the whole garden gets a blast once a week, twice in the winter

Few pints of water in a bucket , get some extra hot chilli , curry powder , garlic pureePlease explain, how is the mix, application etc? And how big is your garden?

Their habitat is North AmericaOn the trees in our garden that don't have bird feeders we have feeders for squirrels.
Just because someone built our house in their habitat it doesn't give us the right to exclude them from our garden.

That's me told.Their habitat is North America
They are an invasive species that almost wiped out our native red squirrel
I am more than happy to spray chilli powder solution around the garden which irritates their eyes and noses and keeps them away from my garden bulbs and the food I leave out for hedgehogs
They are basically pests and need controlling

I have no problems with squirrels, they don't like my cats, but not sure if I should feed the birds, better to feed cats direct, as feathers in the house make an awful mess. If I can reach it to put seed in, cat can also reach it. As to pine martins, I am told they are getting closer, and they will see off the grays, seems reds are too light, and can't reach them.
