this is the situation, business partner has a bg contract had annual check up on friday, everything working well and no problems with boiler.
bg told him he needs a power flush as the system is blocked up,bg guy came to this descision after recalling several overheating errors on display panel on boiler.
when the boiler was installed 2 years ago the install guy had problems with circulation due to boiler being resited and a lot of up and down pipework,so it overheated then.
so these stored errors are 2 years old,is bg correct on its assumptions.

How long did the guy take do do the service and come up with this conclusion?

Sadly I suspect that he is wrong in saying you need a powerflush. Theres nout wrong with getting one done, but to say you need one may well be.

What kind of boiler is it? how olds the system and was it flushed corectly when the boiler was fitted?

If hes making this assumption purely one falt codes then no, he shouldnt say you need a powerflush, if he found the fault codes, then checked the system water found it to be heavily sludged then yea that would be ok.

I suspect from your description when the boiler was installed there may have been a few airlocks preventing circulation to begin with thus the codes.

Has it worked ok for your partner? everything heating well?

bg contractor installed it for bg with all new radiators.only exsisting system is pipes to radiators.
ok it was expensive but their credit arrangement was cheaper than most.
sorry dont know boiler make, can these error codes be removed from display panel.to prevent future sales tactics.

Yea the error codes can but only if you know what boiler it is lol.

tell your mate to look throught the instruction manual, most have a thing for reseting them, its probably a new worster so yea there will be service settings that can be removed.

No if all rads+boiler were changed by BG then its a poor show if 2 years after there wanting a Powerflush done. If it was true then either sys was not inhibited properly at time of install, or it was needing flushed then in which case it should have been done then.

thanks for reply.we think those error/fault codes should have been cleared by bg during service visit and bg to record error/fault codes on their system.for their information.
anyway atleast the system works well.

looking at posts here regarding power flushing it looks like a money making exercise.
so what do bg do on a annual check visit.
1...do safety checks.
2...sell you something.

Firstly BG don't "service" any boilers they "inspect" them. They don't use the word service because all they do is an emmissions test and try and sell you overpriced products you don't need or want. They are given sales targets and commission, what you need and what they tell you that you need are worlds apart.

It's daylight robbery imho.

You may want to look at the oxford powermax incident BG were responsible for too. Makes interesting reading. . . . . .

not always. many still do it properly.

Can we not have a sticky thread "BG vs. The World" And everytime One like this kicks of they can just go to it to finish arguments (not that they ever finish) instead of bickering on new peoples posts. It puts alot of people off using forums like this when they see stuff like that. (but it is fun to stir it up sometimes  Just not in everyone elses threads)

So...BG installed it 2 years ago....whats the problem?

Did you have it flushed when they installed it?

If so then get them back to reflush it ...free of charge.

BG powerflushes have a lifetime guarantee i believe.

yeah as the engineers were exconerated i feel that YOU should do the reading. of they were responsible they'd be taking it in the bum right now.

NO. They couldn't prove which of the two engineers incorrectly adjusted the gas valve. THEY WERE NOT EXONERATED!

Both should be locked up for manslaughter imo.
