Do different types of laminate flooring adjacent look bad ?

I have dark expensive (well £20/m2) flooring in living room.

I have a large hallway outside leading to the kitchen. When I put in the living room flooring I planned on putting laminate/vinyl planks in the hall and kitchen leading through.

I have had several people say that 'mixing' this would look very very bad. I've not seen it mixed before so of course to me (in my head) all seems well.

Advice please, I can still get the same laminate to match all 3 rooms, but its quite dark and not what I wanted for the hall really. So would have to go back to carpet if anything

Hi there

there is one way around this

i have seen it in a friends house it looks great

run a border of the dark laminate say 1 board thick around the edge of your hallway
then in fill the centre with the lighter laminate

the finished look , is that you ment it to be that way all the time

thanks
adam

only thing hard about this is getting the joints right between the light and dark laminate
