DO I NEED 10 AAVs

Most sinks say silicone can be used to secure if clips cannot be used.

Really, surely not your ordinary silicon. Silicon would peel off the metal after a while. Takes time to set as well, so how is the sinktop held secure and close to the worksurface? By the way, this is not a 'dig' but quest for knowledge.

Instructions do say the cutout in the worktop should be siliconed to seal the chipboard.

Sit a heavy weight on it for the night ie toolbox and the silicone does not peel of it grabs like sh#te to blanket

Of course I could have cut away the obstructing chipboard but I had quoted a budget price to do just the plumbing and had already had to make two visits because tap parts were missing. In any case I avoid woodwork for customers.

I was not going to get involved any further when the whole job was a disaster with tap parts and then sink fixing clips were missing. Not surprising when the son with no knowledge was buying these things.

What I did not say was that there was also a kitchen fitter's problem because the dishwasher would not enter the space because the horizontal bar blocked it.

Nor that I was also called a third time because the son ( perhaps ) had for some reason removed the tap head and caused the water to leak out. As he had then turned off the isolating valves I dont see why he could not refit the top of the tap again.

I used to maintain the daughter's boiler and was just trying to help them on what should have been a simple plumbing job taking about an hour.

This post is getting stranger by the minute.

Tony, what has a dishwasher got to do with the horizontal bar on a cabinet? You take pride in being precise and very thotough. Can you say what the width the dishwasher is, and name and model of the unit

Namsag, with all due respect, I would not leave my toolbox on a sink top overnight. God only knows if it will still be there when I return the next day.

Budget price? , by your own admission 'the job takes as long as necessary to do it right' ..................................................

I do hope this instraller was cheap!

He is clearly a nupty!

Any competent installer would have been able to identify any potential problems BEFORE he fitted the boiler!

You should ask him to do whatever is necessary to sort out the problem BUT all at his expense!

Do not pay him anything more. If he refuses then tell him that you will be getting another installer to remedy the problem and then claim the costs from him, if necessary via the courts and that will have the court online fee of £60 added.

Hopefully you chose a bona fide installer who is gas registered and you know his name and address for the legal procedures?

If you lived in my local area I would assist you with the procedures for free.

Tony

what?!

When I quote a price thats what I expect to charge. If I were to overlook anything then thats my fault and not the customer's.

Seems you overlooked a lot where this sink was concerned

still no pic?no evidence yet again,a bit like all the the so called real plumbers or "engineers" on this site.I don't believe any of it lol

I did not do the overlooking!

I was informed that a professional kitchen fitter was fitting the kitchen! I took that to be the case when quoting over the phone.

What I did not know is that he seemed to be a good DIYer with no experience of fitting kitchens. Now did I know in advance that he was Dutch and would be goiung back to Ireland as quickly as he could leaving me with the problems.

In spite of all the being messed about I still charged the quoted figure.

The narrow dishwasher was about 400mm wide!

One of the causes of the dishwasher problem was the kitchen units were fitted first and the floor later but only in the open space and not under the units. Regardless, many units come on adjustable legs.
