Do I need a maintenance free jb

Hi dropping my hall ceiling height and changing from rose to downlighters. At the moment I have just used some connector strip to temporarily connect everything up. Now looking to finish it and close it up so I understand that I need a maintenance free jb rather than just a standard, if this is correct any links to Screwfix/toolstation or online please, this was at the start I redid it all with fresh joints and connectors?

Wago do a good mf lighting junction box, the 221 I think. It can be screwed to a joist and zip tied.

I would say yes you do need a MF junction.
However it seams to be a very expensive game to get into.
having to buy a large expensive bag of the MF joints and then a box for them to fit into.

I haven't come across a starter kit yet, do just do one junction!

Costs all of £1.82 plus the dreaded. Screw to joist and also has cable clamps.

True - I missed that. I could have sworn that they do an MF version...

Oh yes, they do a 4 terminal 20A MF one which should do the job:

Or Wagobox and 222 series connectors - you can buy them in packs of 10 for a few ££. (Cue arguments as to whether they are MF)

Well its not MF.

It doesnt need to be MF, the junction will be accessible through the downlight hole.
As suggested above, use one of these. Job done

sorry downlights are 35mm and the ceiling is dropped approx. 300mm so even if i changed tem to 50mm i still couldn't get access to the connections at the old light
