Do I need to insulate/protect the pipes?

Hi all

I have just had my stopcock relocated which involved chasing a channel in the floor screed from the mains entry location to the corner of the room.

Before I cover the pipes with sand/cement do I need to protect the pipes with Denso tape or any other method? The plumber said no but I'm sure i've read otherwise. The pipe has been wrapped in a thin transparent wrap of some kind.
