Do you know what it is in the roof of a timber frame house? Is it insulation?

What type of insulation is this? It's between joists in the roof of the new build house

Any chance of a photo from further out?

I'd say the most common types of insulation on new construction in the UK are PIR (Cellotex, Kingspan, etc - fairly stiff thick panels, generally white to cream, sometimes pink or other colours), mineral wool batting or roll (Rockwool, Earthwool, etc - fibrous green or cream/light brown in colour), and occasionally sheep wool batting (dirty white or creamy colour). You sometimes get asked to use compressed wood fibre board (which is exactly what it looks like (wood fibres or Wheetabix/Shredded Wheat appearance). All of those should be tightly fitted between the joists with no gaps or loose materials. That looks like none of the above. I briefly wondered if it might be damaged Aerogel - but at the price that stuff is, probably not

Thank you. I will try to do more photos. Do you think it might be UFFI?

I thought UFFis were a 1970s/80s product and no longer used. I'm not even sure they were used in the UK. In any case, isn't your house a new build? If so I wouldn't expect a retrofit product to be used in the roof space

There should be some warranty documents for the wall insulation. Also records by building control/private inspector should details the system used

These are close ups from an endoscope camera

Thanks, but, what kind of insulation in your opinion?

These pics look familiar.. Perhaps relics of some spray-applied stuff maybe.

Wonder where the rest of it went.. What does it feel/smell/taste like?
