Having looked at a recent topic, i am of the opinion everyone bets.

I personally do not go to the bookies. I may but a lottery ticket every once in a while and that's about it. I have a wager with my golf buddies but that is without any dollar being laid down. Winner takes.

It seems as though, now the footie season has kicked off, all the chatter is about how many goals this, or who will score first, or the top five will all win.

'Tis a foolish pastime if you ask me.

Apart from the bookmaker, does any body actually win?

Is it true that some folks spend the entire day in the bookies? Well at least the pub and the bookies.

Learnt many, many years ago the only winner is the bookie.

£2 a week on the lottery. If I'm meant to win it then I will, if not then I don't lose a great deal.

Some people dont even bother with that anymore.........Just phone up their 'bookies' account from the comfort of the pub barstool and watch the races live ...on huge plasma.

lottery started nov 94 approx 15 years ago 780 weeks @ £2 a week £1560

weds lottery started feb 97 approx 598 weeks @ £2 a week £1196

total £2756

half that if its £1 on each (£1378) still think its nothing?

was up to $5000 playing blackjack online.. then lost it all again playing $100 a hand..
should have walked away, but it wasn't a bad night for a $50 deposit..

if it was cash on a real table, I'd have walked away when I was back down to $4000 but since it was numbers on a screen then my brain kept saying to me "go on, it's not real money"... but it was..
that's why they use chips in casino's.. your brain doesn't think of it as real money, more like monopoly money.. not real..

only time i used to bet was when i was in my early 20s and used to go to the casino on the way home from the clubs. free drinks, free sandwiches, and all you had to do was change up a fiver into chips. Taxi to the door as well. Better than standing in a kebab shop and then in a taxi que!

apart from that and the odd lottery ticket, no!

me i have a little flutter every saturday,i love horse racing, every couple of months i take a trip to the races with the family its a great day out, dont get me wrong i dont get carried away with the gambling,i just put aside few bob something that i can afford.sometimes i win sometimes i lose its a fantastic feeling to watch your horse go past the winning post first.thing to remmember is only bet what you can afford to lose and you wont go wrong.

Subtract from that figure any winnings I have won, (guess it must be over £500 minimum) also only do the Wednesday lotto occassionally, (if I remember or there is a rollover), then compared to the possible gains I don't see it as an addiction. Also, because I do 'Lucky Dips' if I miss one week there will be no crying if I had selected regular numbers and they came up.

I have seen blokes go to the pub at dinner time and lose upto £20 on a fruit machine within half an hour and leave a full pint because they didn't have time to drink it!

(if I remember or there is a rollover),

without going on too much about the lottery this statement makes me laugh every time i hear it.

so the usual couple of million are not good enough to have a go for, yet if its 7-10 million might as well do
