We have a double dimmer switch in our lounge and whilst having some decorating done one of the wires has come out and I can’t work out where to put it back.

See picture below.

The 2 sets of terminals are labelled with L1, L2 and a squiggly line with an arrow through it (let’s call that S to save my typing).

There is a brown wire connecting the L1 terminals on both switches.

There is a yellow wire in S on one switch.

There is a red wire in the S on the other switch.

And there is a red wire that’s come out of somewhere and needs to be re-attached.

There’s then a blue and black wire connected together in a terminal block, and 2earth wires connected together to the side of the box.

It can’t be that hard, but I don’t want get get it wrong.

Either of the L1's

Make sure the power is turned off at the consumer unit[fuse box] before you go any further.

Also see them round things on the back of the switch they are the new screw covers to fit on your switch

In with the brown link.

Is the loose red the same cable as the black wire?
