When I had my house rewired the guy replaced old downlights in the bathroom with moist proof ones but he did not put the fire hoods as shown in the link above. Did he have to put these over the part of the fitting that is exposed in the loft (where the wires go into the fitting)?
All he did was remove the insulation from the bathroom ceiling.
