Drilling wall above window

Hi am trying to fix up a curtain poll in my living room and which being a bit old has solid walls. The left centre and centre went in fine the right one I can't get the drill deed enough . Any ideas please ?

Chris colquitt, good evening.

How about you consider? fixing a piece of timber something like a double pencil round facing [Architrave in England] there are loads of various widths, and get is about 20.mm thick minimum.

If you use a length of timber to extend beyond the length of the Curtain pole by say 100.mm or 150.mm then you have the opportunity to probe the wall under the timber to ensure that a fixing can be obtained.

the timber used can be painted to match the wall or indeed used as a feature in a differing colour??
