I know this has been asked before, but was after some guidance/reassurance that I’m not barking up the wrong tree.

We have a dripping shower which won’t turn off. I’m assuming it’s the valve- I removed it to see if a washer could be placed but looks like it’s a cartridge.

I’ve no idea what make the shower is: there are manufacturers markings.

Two questions:

Firstly, am I correct in assuming the on/off cartridge the cause of this?

Secondly, if I measure length, spline diameter and count, as well as thread diameter will that be sufficient to identify a comparable component?

It’s a concealed valve (and I suspect not the highest quality) so I’m slightly concerned that an incorrect part may result in a leak behind the tiles

Thanks in advance

1. You will need to remove the cartridge (usually all brass) from the chrome surround.
2. Then as cross thread suggests. OR
3. Look at the Tap Magician web site to see what measurements you need to take. Its a bit more than you suggest in your post.
