I wanted to get my ear pierced when I was about that age.

, its perfectly valid. I think you should stand by your opinion, until he is old enough to form his own opinions on what he wants (16) instead of following the crowd, trying to blend in. Also tell him it hurts like hell!

Yes. It's perfectly OK to have your ears pierced as long as you don't display any behaviour deemed to be away from the norm. Heaven forbid...

Get some factual reports of peircings that became infected ( your doctor's surgery may be able to help ) and show them to your son. It seldom happens with ear piercings ( most often at cheap back street peircing "saloons") but the mess and scars when it does go wrong look really bad.
I got my ear pierced at 16. Mostly as an act of rebellion against my parents ect, i still have it in now. aswell as several tattoos, a pierced tounge and had my nipple done but that one went bad
It never botherd me at all if my kids want it doing thsats fine but as soon as they start acting like chavs i`ll drag em back home bu the lug hole

offer to do it as we did and see the reaction...
a sewing needle (sterilisation in boiled salty water optional) with the eye inserted into a cork, and a rubber to hold the needle in the ear (on the other side) for the required time before inserting the stud..
ice cube (for numbing the ear) and bread-board (to avoid a bitten tongue) are also optional extras

it takes very little brain power or imagination to allow a boy to have his ear pierced.
