Hi, what size eathe cable should there be from my consumer unit back to the distributors earth point my my neter (its about 3m away).
 
It was probably correct when it was installed, but no longer complies with current regulations. This does not mean that it is unsafe.
 
I'm only concerned because i think its a fairly new installation, if this isnt correct then what else????? I'm having my meter moved in a couple weeks, will they pick up on it?
 
they may or may not pick up on it but it is only not to current spec. if you get a decent guy he may change it for you or just point it out. there are 1000's still out there on 4mm :lol:
 
If you have a TT system then I think that you can get away with 4.0mm earth, otherwise 16.0mm for TNS / TN-C-S
