no. 2 appears to be a grey-painted metal thing, quite narrow. Is it the top, or bottom, of an enclosure?

Have a look at your incoming watermain stopcock. It might be under the sink. The green one that goes under the floorboards probably comes out there.

And/or on a gas pipe close to the meter.

can't make out no. 1. Is it pushed under the bandage round the incoming cable?

Yes, it does emerge from the wrapping, cant get a better photo because of how close to the wall it is.

It's a piece of metal duct under the consumer unit that they all the wires are fed into the CU.

Have a look at your incoming watermain stopcock. It might be under the sink. The green one that goes under the floorboards probably comes out there.
And/or on a gas pipe close to the meter.

No sign of the floorboards one near the gas meter or stopcock.
