What are those plastic things you get - not eggboxes - that join two wires? They're a plastic sheath with metal at one end which I guess you crimp and it forms a ,,, crimp!

What are they called because I need a couple from Screwfix... for a kitchen light.. egg boxes are soo amateur :)

Screwfix sell these things, but I thought they were for car electrics - are they allowed on domestic work?

Does the word "telecom" in that URL not give you a clue?

Does the fact that when you go to that page you see that the top of the tree is a page entitled "Product Catalog for Access Network Solutions" not give you a clue?

Does this picture not give you a clue?

Does the fact that if you look at the selection chart the conductor sizes are all tiny not give you a clue?

These connectors are for phone and data cables, you clown, not mains voltage!

PS what's an eggbox, and why is it more amateurish than using phone cable connectors?

you know some specialist phone kit actually goes up to over 100V (dacs trunks spring to mind)

Yep, but phone lines have a highish impedance.

Those scotch things are frequently full of goo for waterproofness.
