Ebay - Return a faulty item

Doing anything other than a buy or sell has been a bit of a minefield since they reduced the human contact element. I find using Google or google AI is more useful than Fleabays own help system.

Since eBay started with Simple delivery, many more scammers have appeared.
They buy something and say they never received the package or the box was empty.
eBay refunds them immediately.
This doesn't impact on the seller, but some scammers leave negative feedback before claiming the money back and then the seller has to open a feedback removal dispute with eBay.
Happened to me 4 times already; 3 times item was delivered and Evri had pictures of handing the package to a person.
They claimed of not having received the package.
I sold something and the buyer said it hadn't arrived. Tracking showed it had been left in a "safe place", picture of item left but the buyer was adamant it wasn't there. I spoke to eBay and they said they would refund them under the buyers protection scheme and it wouldn't affect me, but while I was talking to them on the phone, she said "Oh, we won't be paying them, this is the 6th item not received in a month", so obviously someone who found out how to play the game. The buyer eventually claimed his money back from pay pal, but I was able to keep the money. Too many scamming buyers, I think they vastly outnumber dodgy sellers.

Not used ebay for a while now, but just listed a few smart phones and cannot understand the postage thing now on there, simple delivery? The hell is all that about.

It's a good thing for seller.
Basically you choose your postage size when you list the item and once you drop it off eBay takes full responsibility for it.
No more arguing with Evri for abandoned and lost parcels.
Also, if you're selling something just over the weight limit (2.1kg for example) you post it as 2kg and save money because they don't check weight of eBay simple delivery.
Or at least never happened to me that courier asked for more money, although they can do that, it's in the t&c.

I've never been a seller, but my guess...

If you opt for ebay to provide postage, you have to include it in the price (free postage to the buyer). Then you parcel it up, take it along to the post office, with a QR code provided by ebay.

If you charge on top for postage, then you make your own arrangements to deliver the item, at your cost.
