Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and would like to ask a couple of questions regarding removing kitchen appliances.

First of all I wish to move my fridge freezer which will be situated about three meters from the double socket, how do I go about this and what is the best thing to do?

Secondly my compact tumble drier will be put in a cupboard which is approximately four meters from the nearest double socket, which is the same one I will be using as the fridge freezer, how do I go about this and what is the best thing to do? According to the manufacturers instructions the tumble drier should not be used from an extension cable, however it is used very rarely and is never left unattended.

I would be very grateful for any advice as I am on a tight budget and cannot afford an electrician to install new plug points. Thanks in advance.

Contact your BCO and find out how much the notification fee is, some don't consider new sockets in the kitchen to be notifiable in which case you can go ahead and do the work yourself.

If you buy a heavy duty extension lead (1.5mm² or larger) then there really isn't a problem using that for the tumble drier. Remember that you shouldn't have 2 high power appliances plugged into one double socket so be careful where you plug that extension lead in.

Where do I get a heavy duty extension lead this would fit the purpose as the tumble drier can go in one socket and the fridge freezer in the other. Or can I put them both in the one?

I am sorry I am not competent enough,
Are my ears playing f***ing tricks on me or what? A DIYer, admitting something is out of their depth? <faints with shock>

What a f***ing stupid answer. I thought this forum said DIYnot.Com. If all comments are as f***ing stupid as this then I might as well not have bothered registering, I have never claimed to be a competent DIYer, all I wanted was a bit of help. I am female after all, I can't even wire a plug unless there is an instruction book in front of me, even then it is a task. I know I am out of my depth that is why I asked the sodding question in the first place. All I wanted was to know what kind of extension lead (adaptor) I could use. I might as well go elsewhere if this is the kind of comments I am to expect in the future.

Don't take Crafty's comment to heart, he meant it in jest as most DIY'ers who come on here think they know more than the pros. He was just joking.

That extension lead seem ok, just don't be tempted to plug anything else in at the same time.

indeed i was joking. apologies for any offence caused, none was intended. 8)

I must protest! Ability disparagment based on gender sterotyping! You'll be criticising the quality of my petit-point next!

So I take it I can use one of these extension leads for the tumble dryer and another one for the fridge placed into separate sockets. With regard to the fridge freezer will I be able to put anything else in it, for example a microwave and a small toaster.
