Does anyone offer a guarenteed call out service?

If so how much do you charge?

If a customer requires you to be on guarenteed standby either during the day or night or both it can have a massive impact on your social life. Is it fair to charge a retainerfor this?

I'm "on call" most weeknights and weekends and charge £30 and £50 respectively for abstaining from the ale! These are London prices though.

surely you'd need a few staff to handle this so you could have a shift system, and YES you would definitely have to charge, look at AA or RAC membership? British Gas do a breakdown scheme, none of em are free, you could take a payment per month and guarantee to turn up within a specified time, possibly, depending on the deal, offer to include say the first 30min of labour?, depends on what they wanna spend

Evening/Saturdays Standard rates multiplied by 1.5
Sunday/Bank holiday - Standard rates Multiplied by 2

A sole trader would not be able to operate a genuine 24/7 operation IMHO even Superman needed a couple of hours rest per day!
