Can anyone shed some light on what scale of electrciaian should charge what amount as an hourly/daily - if that makes sense ??

eg: Some bod with 18months experience (including domestic, commercial testing etc), and passed C&G 2330. All the way to top man, Part P accredited with NIC etc ??

I think the top man should get a least two crates and a mulitpack of cheese and onion (must be Walklers) an hour.

Here's a link to JIB rates

http://www.jib.org.uk/ops0507.htm

and here's a quick cut and paste from the above URL

Grade Transport Provided Own Transport
Technician (or equivalent specialist grade) £15.10 £15.86
Approved Electrician (or equivalen grade) £13.33 £14.09
Electrician (or equivalent specialist grade) £12.22 £12.99
Electrical Improver £11.00 £11.69
Labourer £9.70 £10.42
Senior Graded Electrical Trainee £11.00 £11.69
Adult Trainee £9.70 £10.42
Adult Trainee (under 21) £7.28 £7.82

JIB are employed rates, so I'd add extra (50%) to the rate for s/employed worker requiring:-

Own transport
Stores / office
holidays
professional development / training
insurance
tools and test kit
vat / tax and NI

Like everything, it depends where your patch is, local market dectates rate more than a JIB table.

London rates, as with any high demand area with guys that are always busy will realise a premium.

It also varies a bit with hour, day or weekly rates. A rewire tends to work out cheaper than doing 5-10 different jobs a week.

The biggest single issue is a mix between how good you are and what the local market pays.

Try getting the wife to phone up some sparks and get verbal quotes for fixed jobs.

My hour rate is the same as the number of days in the shortest month and I do add in logistics time for survey and materials collection.

I don't charge for materials above what I pay and I tend to get clients to buy direct since I have no intention of registering for VAT.

It also means that they have the hassle should a supplier slip on dleivery schedule or stock availability.

hi

it also depends on the type of electrical work being carried out,

I personally know of guys trained to 2391 that are pulling in upto £600 a day, doing test and inspects in and around London, long days though
The average ive found for london electricians is £150-£250 per day depending on install or callout work being carried out.

despite having 236 parts 1 and 2, 10 years experience, I'm only graded as a senior graded electrical trainee on my skills card..

they said i need NVQ LVL 3..

what the hell is that..?

the names have all changed since I went to college..

When I did my NVQ3 it was a full apprenticeship consisting of a written logbook and regular on site assesments.
