engineering bricks & concrete blocks

Morning all

I would be grateful if anyone could confirm if it is ok to mix engineering bricks and concrete blocks on the inner leaf? Or whether I am best just cutting down the concrete blocks to the required height?

Also with regard to the high level wall plate / timber for the rafters to sit on, my total length needed is 3.9m but my timber merchant only does 3.6m lengths so is it best to affix a 3.6m length & a 0.3m length next to it or say a 2m length & then a 1.9m length?

Apologies for what may be a dumb question & thanks in advance for any advice

1. no problem mixing block and engineering brick.

2. change your timber merchant - you should use a full-length wall plate and not do a botch just because your merchant can't afford to stock longer lengths.
