My Baxi Solo boiler has just had it's annual service and passed with flying colours. In the past the engineer has always removed the TF1 filter completely and washed it under the outside tap. This time he didn't as he said that the manufacturer was now recommending that these should not be dismantled for servicing. He did clean some sludge from the bottom though. Is that correct?
He tested the water and said that the Fernox F1 level was OK but that it would probably need topping up next year as it's coming up to 5 years since the system was re-filled and treated; that's £25 extra on the bill, apparently. As I'm going up in the loft to do some boarding this week, I might as well do it now. Got some F1 from B&Q for £18 so can I tip the whole bottle into the tank, as I've read that it's impossible to overdose. Sorry for the two questions in one post!

that £18 will be wasted if youjust tip it in the tank and don't actually draw it in to the system ;)

You could administer it through the tf1, that's if you dare to undo it
