Engraved Accessories

A socket is a multi-use device, you can plug anything into it.

I am not convinced that it is a good idea to label sockets.

My engraved accessories are actually FCUs, typically the appliance is under the counter or inside an enclosure, and the switch is accessible.

I sometimes put labels on plugs.

I agree - other than in very special circumstances (not usually found in domestic installations) - e.g. if the socket is 'reserved' for some special/important purpose and/or is a 'special' supply (e.g. particularly 'clean').

Fair enough. I would think that the most commonly engraved accessories are switches (as witness the fact that a good few variants of off-the-shelf engraved grid switches are available) - which makes good sense (as do your FCUs).

Yes, I quite frequently do that, particularly for things like 'chargers' - and, again, it can make sense.

I have some sockets in the bedroom, switched from the door. They have nightlights in. So when I get up to pee, being a clumsy b'stard, I don't fall. 2 are behind chests of drawers, so not easily accessible, but one is. I'd just like them to be labelled to remind people who are incredibly forgetful that they are not 13A outlets (they will be labelled "LIGHTING ONLY").
Plus, when we move, they will be self-explanatory.

SImilarly, I have some 2A outlets in the lounge for table lamps, switched from the door. The lounge is being done up at the moment.

Mrs S is adamant she would like "normal" sockets and a "normal" switch (currently a dimmer), "so 'we' (meaning me) don't have to mess about changing plugs on the table lamps, and someone could use the socket for a phone charger if needed.
With a mixture of single and double sockets in the room, there will be a total of 23 places to insert a phone charger, not including the lighting sockets switched from the door, so there won't be a lack of choice. Plus some of these socket plates will have USB outlets....

That all makes total sense, and I do similarly.
