Etymology of the term greg for a plug in ceiling rose?

I hear rock rose from time to time, AFIAC they are Luminaire Supporting Couplers, nothing else.

The original ones were like a round 2 amp plug with a cover that screwed up to the base, they were the original Greg Rose as far as I remember as an apprentice, before the Klik Rose came out.

yes, apparently the original design of these items looked like a pasty, and were designed by a popular baker
