Hi all, I am building a small wall at 9.5 meters long and 0.700 meters in hight. I’m going to be having piers at each side at 0.900 meter high. It will be getting harling put on. I’m looking to find out if I’d need to put an expansion in the middle? And if I should put a pier in the middle also?

Thanks in advance.

If wall is 215mm wide, no need for pillars at that height, put a movement joint in middle of wall, using slip ties and fill joint with suitable coloured sealant.

Bricks need an expansion joint over about 6m - blocks will go a bit further - 8 to 9m - but I would advise an expansion joint anyway. Harling won't move much without cracking. 2 smaller bays will be safer than one.
