Hi folks, I am fitting a new hot water cylinder due to finding a leak. There is a small copper cylinder directly above the hot water cylinder. Is this an expansion tank? It's an indirect cylinder from a multi stove with 7 radiators and dhw. There is a feeder tank and the cold water tank in the attic so not sure why the small cylinder is in place. This was in place when we moved in. Thank you

Thanks for reply. I will take a photo tomorrow. The cupboard needs dismantling to be able to get the old cylinder out so can't get a clear picture.

Apprantely works on the same principle as a primatic cylinder.

Answer to op Q... The spartan is the feed & expansion to your heating/ dhw circuit . Replaces the need for an f & e tank in loft

Thank you for reply (and help with pictures).
We have no access to loft space because we're a ground floor flat, ex council house. Realise now there is no feeder tank. What are my options ie is there an equivalent to this Spartan cylinder or should I be looking at a combination indirect cylinder.
