extention

I want to build an extention at the rear of my house, i have been advised by friends that i may not be able to take the extention up to the boundary wall seperating myself and my neighbour, can anyone shed some light on this

Life is full of if's and maybe's. There's no reason why you can't. The only things you will have to bear in mind is the close proximity to the boundary and the party wall issues that may arise.

Is there a party wall act (or equivilant) in Scotland?

Not realy to sure Jeds, i would take it that theres some law somewhere called a party wall, i'm not to sure what this can you shed some light

Have a read of it, but you would be interested in what is noted from Page 16. That is of course assuming the act does cover Scotland, as jeds mentioned.

The PWA would not stop building to the boundary - or 10mm in if necessary, but there is no PWA for Scotland. Up there, they follow their common law, and there are some laws related to specifically to Boundary Walls. Have a browse of www.scotlawcom.gov.uk
