Hi

I am looking to add an extra shelf in my wardrobe above the existing. It’s quite a wide span 1.4M. Any suggestions please as I’m generally quite rubbish at most DIY! Thanks

A piece of matching Conti board, of the correct depth, then drill the sides of the wardrobe, for pegs. B&Q will cut the board accurately to length for you, if you take along the measurement.

Continue board not very strong over 1.4m unless you can support the centre from above or below.
Would help to know wardrobe construction? Built in? Free standing?

I've always found modesty blocks are handy for adding shelves to existing cupboards. For that span then a length of threaded bar in the middle from the top fore and aft will stop any sag

I have an Ikea wardrobe that is 1.5 metres wide. The wardrobe is made of two sections both 0.75 wide and such that the shelves are supported at the mid point front and back. I should think that a shelf 1.4 wide will need support on both the front and rear edge as well as the sides
