extractor options

i want to put an extracter fan in my bathroom, but i don't want to have it on the shower with a 10 minute timer malarchy... reason being we have three kids and lots of baths..... so do we just have it with an on/off switch or is there a smarter way?

Humidity sensor - fan is on while the air is damp
or
PIR / occupancy sensor - fan is on when people are in the room.
