Well so much for the supposed reliability if LEDs. About three years ago we got a string of 15 white, LED-illuminated plastic snowmen. They were fine for two years running but this year one of them failed at first switch-on (so it's not just bulbs) leaving a third of the chain dead. Then, two days later, another one flickered and died leaving only five still on.

Of course, being LEDs, they're not designed to be replaceable. The best I can hope for is to combine the working LEDs from the two non-functional groups to get a string of ten with three spare but it'll be two short to be of much use.
