The Russians still exported wheat whilst their comrades starved to death.
Why is that bad? Even ukraine can beat russia. Nato can beat russia 10x. Poland can beat russia 1000x.
Also, volunteers act on their own volition. They have nothing to do with nato.

An individual volunteering for combat is essentially a lone wolf, a fighter pilot is effectively a representative of his/her country.

The problem is china, Belarus and North korea and likely others will step in to help Russia and they've all got nuclear weapons and it will just be a cluster **** that no one will come out of it well.
It's a balancing act.
The help being offered is more of a token gesture and posturing by world leaders, if Russia ever achieve their target then the west will just let them take Ukraine, as it would be the easier and safest option.
Biden will let russia achieve its target over his dead body. Let it or not, russia will have to take ukraine as a consolation prize. Strategically, russia will have lost. It will be interesting to see what russia can do to avoid this loss. If russia can tempt nato/poland into ukraine, it will win. Poland has trouble sharing a border with russia, and I don't understand why. This might force poland to enter.
Belarus needs it's military for domestic control. North Korea has been shipping arms to Russia but it's unlikely they'll send troops to fight.
They're also unlikely to send much as they need the military for domestic control and to face off against SK.
The kit that has been donated to Ukraine has made a huge difference and may be enough to start pushing Russia back. But they need more to replace losses and expenditure.

i dont know exactly how it works but there will be no such thing as a freelance f16 pilot --well there will be but he wont have a jet he can use unless he brings his own with the multimillion back up needed
in Otherworlds, any plane will have exact [no cowboy] requirements so an exact training requirement and use strictly controlled to exacting standards
any one who is not presently an active pilot and not in the system will not even register unless the start at the bottom and pass the requirement

the f16 has been in active service for 45 years with 4600 built so how many pilots is there capable of flying them 15/20,000 so there well could be guys willing to take $$$$$ for flying them back into combat
The ukrainians fight because of money, likewise for f16 pilots. Everyone will take the risk when the price is right. Volunteers will resign from military and go to ukraine. Lots of people "resigned" from the polish military not long ago. It's not hard to imagine where they went. Pilots can resign as well as mechanics. Fighting for pay is not stupid, especially if there is added promise that if you die, your family would be taken care of.
Ukraine will get free planes. They will advertise pilot and support positions. You can apply if you have past experience.
