Hi all, more help needed now. Last night I let my gas run out....put it on emergancy and then we had no water! Went to the boiler to find the pressure had run out. Re-filled and seem to have over filled it...how do I get the pressure down? Also now I have no water coming from the hot taps at all..... ie no water not just no hot water. And also the system is showing an F28 fault code. I have re-set 3 times and still nothing. What can I do?
The cow boy who re-fitted the pump at the end of last week, has sent me a bill for 3 hours labour which he didn't actually do so I will not be calling him out again or paying him for the labour.......after all I have had nothing but problems! Please help.. once again :-(

does the boiler have a 3 way valve for refilling? it sounds as if you have not returned it to its original position,

You will not have damaged it and can reduce the pressure by bleeding a radiator.

As you have not told us the make and model of boiler its a little difficult for us to give any model specific advice.

It may be a Vokera Linea with a seperate filling loop and a snapped knob shaft.

Sometimes cutting the mains power for a minute will get it to reset.

It's a Vaillant Ecotec Pro (pile of rubbish in a box really) I bled the radiators last night, but I will do it again later.

I have reset the boiler 3 times (pressing the flame button and holding it down) and each time the boiler goes back to it's F28 fault. We have gas as well I have checked that :-)

I am not sure why it's not just relighting??

In that case its quite a robust boiler and not one to usually give many silly fault conditions when its been upset.

F28 is a failure to ignite. Can be caused by no gas.

You say you have reset the credit gas meter. Do you have a gas hob or cooker and if so does that work OK as normal?

If no hob then does the meter show "ON" when you press the button?

Does the boiler reset and then try to relight and then show the F28 after a few seconds?

Tony

I am at work at the moment, but will go home and investigate a bit more. I hope the gas is on ok...but I am not 100% sure. I also think I need to sort the water out......It is trying to light, but I am guessing that if there is no water flowing through then it won't light anyway...is that correct?

Obviously you do need gas! its esential that th meter is reset following the instructions on screen until you get the "ON" display.

The boiler will work fine even if pressure is too high.

If there was a water problem then it would give a different fault code.

I am off to do a couple of repairs and then taking a client to the theatre this evening.

Dave should be there to help later.

Tony

Edit: Client enjoyed the theatre. It was a play called "Foreplay". It also had a "signer" for deaf people. He was really fantastic and I spent quite a bit of time watching him as I had already seen the play a week ago. Some of the dialogue he had to convert to signage was interesting!

:-) I will go home and see what I can do.
Thanks for the update, and enjoy this evening....I will let you know I break tonight.

Thanks

You sound like you have left the right hand filling valve turned on. When open to fill the system it also shuts the hot taps off.

There is a drain off under the boiler, on each of the ch isolating valves. Use a 7mm spanner to open one of these and drain, dropping the pressure to 1.2 Bar cold.
