Ok my old glow worm boiler has developed a leak and needs to be replaced. Its on an old vented system. Looking to get a vailant ecofit pure 830 fitted and price will include the change to the pipework but keeping the boiler in the same space in an unused loft. Job will include a powerflush of the system, scale reducer and magnetic filter.
Located in West London, what do you guys think is a fair price for the install. To be clear I'm not looking for a bargain, just a fair price.
Regards Aidan.

I am west London based (currently Ealing). I am a decorator rather than a plumber but if you want I can PM you the details of a guy who has done lots of work for family members and some of my customers. His name is Devsi. (If you are local I can recommend Paul the plumber for non gas work- he too is Ealing based and I think will travel as far as Chelsea) I have known him, Devsi, by association, for 15(?) years. I have never experienced him taking the pee when quoting. If we DM, I will give you my name and you can let him know that I recommended him. I will not get any kind of backhander- that is not my thing. I only recommend people whom I trust.

BTW, my mum has a 1980 ish back boiler, he found spares for it.

Cheers mate, just sent you a direct message.

Just an update on this for anyone else looking in the future (who doesn't use bizarre units of commerce like family holidays).
Bought a Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 424 myself for £1429.72 and was charged £800 to fit it in the same place in the loft.

Did Devsi give you a reasonable quote?

Your feedback will help me when I come to recommending him (or not). I really rate him, but yeah, there may be other Gas Safe plumbers that I can recommend to my customers.

AFAIK, you are allowed to recommend whomever it was that you used. It will help other people in west London.

I paid £600 for an EcoTEC 418 to be fitted in the same position in my loft. The flue was on the flank wall and British Gas wanted £600 on top of the price for either scaffolding or a tower to enable them to slip a trim ring on. My bloke used a ladder and it was done in 10 minutes.

I would have thought about £800 is fairly reasonable for a boiler installation in a loft.

Perhaps slightly less in a simple ground floor location.

Usually it is possible to push a flue out from inside with a rubber gasket sealing the outside. Not ideal as better sealed with cement but it works.

Big company called Boxt which often gives fairly reasonable prices for boiler replacements.

Friend’s just replaced a boiler and the plumber used was talking about boxt and how he no longer does their jobs because by the time they’ve taken their cut, the little money left to pay him meant he had to rush to make it worth it, and quality suffered.

For reference the replacement job was 2700 for an ideal exclusive, flue kit, flushing and refilling ancillaries, new external condensate drain pipework (3m run, second floor), soil stack repair and an unrelated leak under the sink to be fixed. Northern prices
