I'm adding a fake chimney breast to my living room which will hold a wall mounted bio ethanol fire:
and above that, a TV. The finished thing will hopefully look look exactly like this:
The fire itself will be bolted to the wall, with the chimney breast built around it.
I've seen false chimney breasts for wood burning stoves made from steel studwork - I take it there's a floor rail, ceiling rail and then vertical studs in between?
To keep things simple, I was planning to build the chimney breast from timber, line the fire area with 3mm steel sheet (below, behind and above where the fire sits), then clad the whole thing in 2 layers of plasterboard. Around the fire would be contained in its own, fire cement sealed steel box.
Would that give me sufficient fireproofing?
All advice appreciated.
