Fancy coloured fascia brick. Cement.

Hi guys, I've moved into an uncompleted house that I'm trying to get tied up. The entrance was left to accept real stone but the cost of the product that I wanted along with stone masons fees made me ponder. I'm looking for advice on what cement to use to try and match the brick colour. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions?

I'm in Northern Ireland and so far haven't been able to source a black or dark sand.

How to the pigments perform and is one better than the other?

I have been on projects where mortar has been coloured by the use of additives such as Cementone Powder Cement Colour. Trying to match the colour is going to be trial and error in the same way old paint mixing was. Mix a batch, wait for it to set and dry out and then you have the finished colour. I think your example uses a black mortar, certainly the brick units would not stand out so much with a mortar of matching colour. As for which manufacturers pigments to use, I have no idea if any one will perform better than another.

You would trend to use a black mortar dye with blue bricks.
