Farage talks garbage...

In smelly parts of the world you put chlorine tablets in your drinking water. And LIVE!.

The issue is that they might/do disregard healthy practice in other part of the procuction because the Cl wash kills surface bacteria, so it's thought other things "don't matter". As that BBC thing says, though, it doesn't kill them all.
And what's wrong with chlorine? By law it must be added to mains drinking water for disinfection. It's saved a huge number of lives over the last couple of hundred years.

Yep, they do put chlorine in the UK's water supply...

But for comparison...

Typical UK water supply - 0.5mg/L

Recommended concentration for disinfection at source for cholera - 1mg/L

US limit for washing chicken - 50mg/L

EU processors on the whole are only allowed to use cold air and water to decontaminate chicken carcasses.

It's not the chlorine that's the concern, it is because it's used as a last resort to cover up diseased chicken.

Are you saying that up to chlorination all US chicken is diseased?, bit of a stretch.

It's not the chlorine that's the concern, it is because it's used as a last resort to cover up diseased chicken.
The chlorine level is of concern...

And it's just the tip of the iceberg as regards lower US food standards...

Animals pumped with carcinogenic antibiotics...

And high pesticide residual levels from chemicals banned in the UK.

Are you saying that up to chlorination all US chicken is diseased?
No, but it happens more frequently because of poor animal welfare standards. If that wasn't the case then they wouldn't need to use chlorine in the first place.

You’ve been saying that we are going onto that system since at least 2012.
Where have you been?

It's already happening, and garbage is up for a full on private health insurance system...

Only a rabid brexiteer can't/won't see what is happening...

Just as they will ignorantly dismiss this...

NHS cancer patients denied life-saving drugs due to Brexit costs, report finds

"British cancer patients are being denied life-saving drugs and trials of revolutionary treatments are being derailed by the red tape and extra costs brought on by Brexit, a leaked report warns.

Soaring numbers are being diagnosed with the disease amid a growing and ageing population, improved diagnosis initiatives and wider public awareness – making global collaborations to find new medicines essential.

But five years after the UK’s exit from the EU, the most comprehensive analysis of its kind concludes that while patients across Europe are benefiting from a golden age of pioneering research and novel treatments, Britons with cancer have “lost out” thanks to rising prices and red tape.

Brexit has “damaged the practical ability” of doctors to offer NHS patients life-saving new drugs via international clinical trials, according to the 54-page report obtained by the Guardian.

In some cases, the cost of importing new cancer drugs for Britons has nearly quadrupled as a result of post-Brexit red tape. Some trials have had shipping costs alone increase to 10 times since Brexit"

"In some cases, the impact has been devastating. Children are among the NHS cancer patients whose tumours have returned or treatment has stopped working, leaving them in limbo and denied drugs that could extend or save their lives, senior doctors told the Guardian.

Sources said officials in the Cabinet Office and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology were studying the findings of the review.

It cites evidence from a range of leading clinicians, scientists and researchers, and was compiled by experts from organisations including Cancer Research UK, the University of Southampton, and Hatch, a research consultancy"

I'm not in favour of American chicken, or much else American for that matter, I was just putting the case for chlorine!
Strange though how those who are happy to cave in to have lower welfare produce entering the UK in a post brexit 'deal', are equally happy to hold up UK standards in temporarily banning EU imports due to a foot and mouth scare

What’s the death rate percentages for say, cancer in the US compared to those in the EU? In other words, do you get better treatment under a 'free' healthcare system compared to a paid for one? I’ll save you the bother - you have a better chance of not dying of cancer in the US. Maybe it’s that chlorinated chicken that’s helping. ;)

I appreciate this could be a significant risk for us socioeconomically (could equally be asserted maybe not of course) however as I've alluded to in other threads, part of me hopes Reform win come next GE, with Farage our shiny new PM.

Why?

Because once in power, I suspect they would realise relatively quickly that all their current rhetoric wouldn't be as easy to implement. Let's say they do a good job with illegal immigration, fine. However that still leaves health, education, housing, jobs, economy etc to be sorted out.

Are the current crop p1ss poor? Yes. Were the previous? Yes. However I doubt any of the other possible contenders would be much if any better.

The realities of governing are significantly different than spouting whatever you want from the sidelines. It would be a joy to see Farage at PMQs trying to explain why x hasn't been delivered yet ...

One noticeable difference between right wing politicians and those on the left - is that the left seem to be so humourless and out of their depth. Zero character and about as engaging as roadkill - virtually without exception. Think David Milliband, Diane Abbott, Lammy - jeez what a dire lineup that would be.

Would never get anything like this with left-wing politicians -
