Fault with Hotpoint Washer/Dryer 420

I put a small bath mat in the machine to rinse and spin only, but on spinning it must have unbalanced the machine. Now nothing happens at all except the door locked light remans on as does the rinse and hold. I have cleaned the filter at the back of the machine, blown in the tubes etc and still cannot get the machine to do anything at all. I have bought another machine as I needed one immediately, but it would be a shame to scrap this one, and I would like to put it in the garage to wash my dog towels etc! When I did have someone come out before, when the machine was insured, he just attached a computer thing to the machine and solved the problem? Can anyone direct me to some sort of repair person manual for this appliance so I can solve the problem or does any kind person out there have an answer for me?

have you pressed the rinse and hold button thats wot it means rinse and hold in water .

Yes I have tried pressing everything. When the machine had finished, rinse and hold and fast spin lights were on, I think.

The machine is drained and empty, but just nothing works, I have tried pushing various buttons, but to no avail!
