FCU problems!

Yes, as far as I can see, everything else is working fine.

?>???????????????????????????????/

You need a plug in socket tester really a good one can be had for around ten quid from a wholesaler or i think the DIY sheds sell them. This will tell you if the socket is wired correctly.

but if it doesn't work a hover or phone charger, then surely it isnt working?
I'm so confused about this,

does anyone have any idea how much this would cost me to get sorted by an electrician??? I think it is out of my league now, but I really don't want to get ripped off by some dodgy cowboy!!!
I'm in Wimbledon.

If u post a clear picture on here tonight i can get a top electrician who i work with to take a look at it and see what he says.

jesh some people make things hard..

do away with the fused spur and double socket below and just get a socket doubler..

these fit on the single backbox already in the wall..
they do stick out some but since the fused spur and double socket are surface anyway I doubt you'd mind..

you can even get triples..

as for your current dilemma, i recon you've disturbed the cables in the double socket below and a wire has fallen out / broken off..

What exactly isn't working?

What fuse have you changed?

Rewireable fuse? Seen many people struggle wire one, and find they break the wire as they re-wire it.

WOO-HOO
Problem Solved!!!
thank you so much everyone...well it turns out that there was a problem with the socket below!
When I took the front off, I noticed that the live wire had been made longer and joined with some electrical tape. With my fumbling around, I had broken this join and so nothing was working. I have re-joined the wire with the electrical tape and hey-presto all is good. Although I am slightly concerned that it isn't joined all that securly and there was some black charring from the broken join previously!
thank you for all your help

You mean the conductors were only joined by electrical tape? If so just replace the cable, its only about a foot long and will cost about £1 a metre. The charring is due to heat build up, this increases the resistance and can cause further overheating - just replace it.
