FCU problems!

I think that is very good advice. The cable that is there is so thick and is really stiff to handle. Is all cable the same? Do I just go and get a new bit and connect it???

ok, thanks for your help. I'll pop in to homebase or B&Q tomorrow. It's not likely to catch fire or anything in the meantime????

thank you. I have turned the fcu off just to make sure. Thanks for your help - the whole socket seems a big mess anyway... there is an internal case in the wall, then an external one I'm replacing on top, all because of a double socket a bit further down in the wall....could the socket not have been simply put where the fcu is, and then no fcu??? Is a fcu really necessary?????????????

As coljack mentioned previously you don't need the FCU and separate double socket. You can just fit one of these. It fits over the single backbox you have already so shouldn't cause any problems.

the problem is I kinda fancy one in the brushed chrome look and I'm thinking that they dont have one to match my other sockets?

I suppose I could change it ti a single socket, and that would just be a very normal, standard, idiot proof, socket front???

you know what....after all this trouble, and all your help, I think that I may just do that!!!!
Watch this space for me getting into a pickle with that!!!
Thanks
J
