Hi.

I have around 40m of feather edge fencing that I need to erect and wanted to ask a question before starting.

I know that you can buy a clear treated and brown treated feather edge piece, but I have also seen fencing that is different shades, something similar to hardwood decking.

I have attached an image, so you can see what I mean.

I don't know if this is just a mixture of clear and brown fitted randomly or if it's a different wood.

Thanks.

Hi
to me that look like different types of treated timber mixed together
ie spruce tanalised is a lot lighter in colour than tanalised douglas fir and larch.

Im also not quite sure what you mean by clear treatment.
Most timber yards / fencing suppliers will stock pressure treated 'green'
Some will offer pressure treated 'brown' which when fresh is a dark brown colour.
For a feather edged fence I would advise pressure treated or tanalised & not dip treated.

40 metres is a nice quantity of material so you should get a fairly good price.
Try going to a sawmill specialising in fencing there should be plenty of them in your area.

Thanks fencer35.

Yes, the two types are pressure treated green and brown, but I was told that the green type is just a clear treatment.

It looks to me that they are different materials as well.

I'll have a phone around to get the best price.

Cheers.
