I have been advised by this forum to descale my system to stop the banging noises. On the container it says it can be left in the system for up to 7 days ( max 4 hours if aluminium components are fitted) How do I know whether I have aluminium components. What do you think guys.?

Im sure u have a low water content alloy heatexchanger inthat boiler. 4hrs is a not long though. Have u got the boiler instruction book.

Bab

No I do not have the boiler instruction book. I moved into this house 2 years ago and 'inherited' this system. I will put the stuff in and see how it goes. What is the worst that can happen if I leave it in too long?

Don't like the sound of that DarkInferno, that sounds expensive and behond an amateur DIY person.

My boiler is a Myson Apollo.

How long do you reckon I should leave it in there then. :?:

Your system has a low water content exchanger so 4hrs is all u hav.

The De-scaler has been in overnight and the banging was no better this morning. I am going to work now so it will have to stay in there till tonight. Just hope it doesn,t do any more damage.
