I have no CH or hot water - low pressure warning light on the boiler flashing. On resetting, the boiler ignites for a few seconds then goes out. Pressure rises to about 0.5 bar on lighting - needs to be between 1 and 1.5 bar. How do I increse pressure in the system?
thanks!

thanks - should have checked FAQ first I know.

Think have overfilled system now by leaving the filling point open slightly. Got it closed properly now but pressure (cold) is stable at just below 2 bar. Have left turned off for now

Also have discovered underlying problem of leak - drips from the boiler! Which explains low pressure in the first place probably. The drips seemed to get worse when the pressure was increaed in the system - to be expected I guess.

Should I leave it for the moment for the pressure to drop a bit and address the leaks seperately another time - perhaps with an engineer? Or is it worth running CH a bit, even though pressure is a bit high?

apologies for rambling - help appreciated

modena can run with 2 bar cold quite happily so switch it on and use it - try bleeding a rad or 2 if you need to lower pressure

Watch the pressure gauge - if it starts to approach 3 Bar turn the temperature down or the heating off.

The safety valve will open at 3 Bar causing more problems.

Get the leaks fixed and expansion vessel checked for pre-charge.

had the same prob over filled blowout at 3bar drip drip drip loss of pressure in need of pressure release valve but not the normal 1

Dear friend, my boiler has recently developed the same fault. I have had an engineer who went for the thermistors ( temp.sense), however, it was not the answer. Did you get anywhere with your inquires. Kind regards Rick

Sorry, your reply is unhelpful, hav'nt you got anything better to do?
