Morning,

Following the replacement of my security alarm, I now have to fill this great big old hole. Due to the location next to the consumer unit I’m wary of using expanding foam. Can anyone recommend a method/product that would work in this scenario? Many thanks in advance, Splodge999

Buy handy board.
Its small sheet of plasterboard from B&Q.
Cut a square peace of board big enough to fit over your holes.
Places cut board over holes.
Mark around with pencil.
Cut wall out.
Blob some easy fill in hole
Push board in
Leave to set
Fill over
Sand

Drying time will be a few days when you blob board in.
Use easy fill for sticky and filling. Just easier.

Watch YouTube... On the trowel.
Kirk fills in walls like that so you can watch

At the same time, (if it is disused) you might as well get rid of the old supply for the BA panel and fill the hole in the ceiling where the cables pass through.

As Wayners said, although you can always skip cutting out the wall and just board over the affected area, making safe the cable ends with a connector block.

It probably would've been neater to just leave it alone and write "not used" on it :/

I don't think expanding foam is a terrible idea tbh, then gouge out enough of it to filler over, sand and paint if that's what you're happy with but boarding over the area per Odds is simple and effective

If someone is doing renovations near you maybe knock on and ask if you can have a scrap of plasterboard and a couple of bits of osb or batten. Once you have marked and cut the hole per wayners advice screw the battens/osb so they overlap the hole edges on two sides (inside the wall) and then screw your new scrap of board to them, filler over and smooth
