Hi all, sorry if thsi has been asked before, as I KNOW it is a bit of a grey area. Have just fitted some fire rated downlights in a newly built annex (single storey) LABC have had a fit (new chap) and stated they must also have hoods as well. Now, if i fit the hoods it doubles the expense fro the householder. Would i have been better just fitting standard downlights and hoods?
AND, before you all ask I am Part P registered and have 26 years electrical experience but seem to have got off on the wrong foot with this LABC inspector!

Any advice?

Fire hoods aren't required full stop. Tell the inspector to re-read his rule book.

Steve - thanks - that was MY interpretation of it. I HATE downlights and always try and talk customers out of them!
