Hi,

I was wondering how much work and a reasonable price it would cost for us to have a douche fitted beside our toilet. We have a two builders saying £500-£600.

just wondering if that’s a fair price.

Well I never heard them called that before...

I've know them as a 'Shataff', obviously the growing popularity of them has called for a name change that doesn't affect peoples sensibilities...
Had one in our bathroom for many years as the wife likes to be clean.

In the great toilet paper wars (shortages) of last year I was in a supermarket where a woman who was complaining about the lack of such paper was told the get a Shataff installed. Not only was she horrified, disgusted at the suggestion she also extremely abusive to the suggester, so much so that the store security had to escort her (and the suggester) off the premises.

We're all shaking our heads north of Coventry, it may be the case a bit lower down too.

I just hope these things are not part of Boris's plan to level up the North

I've heard them called a sh!toff though :)

As Bernard has pointed out, these must be installed in accordance with UK Water Regulations, which means it's a bit more involved, and backflow prevention is required.

It depends on what work they are doing, if they are choosing to ignore the regulations, then I’d say it’s expensive. However, if they’re sticking to the regulations and fitting a break tank, then it might be reasonable/fair.
